The majority of activity in Niseko takes place on the ski slopes and snow fields, but there is an increasingly busy nightlife developing in its many bars and clubs. The area plays host to a diverse bar scene with a variety of bars – quiet refuges, those selling top class spirits and wines, club-style bars attracting noisy parties, more traditional bars with billiards and darts, and of course sports bars screening live matches – and the international spirit shines through with Australian, Indonesian, Irish, American, and of course Japanese themes.
Truly something for everyone, and with childcare services now being offered in some places everyone can enjoy an evening out after the day’s adventures. Also for those who prefer to relax in their apartments, a service delivering wine has been started.
There is an annual Jazz Festival in Niseko which tempts music lovers to the region, and provides a backdrop for many late night bar sessions. The well-known Japanese pastime of karaoke is as popular here as elsewhere in the country, and western tourists have embraced it with gusto, leading to even more diversity of relaxation styles.
